When I found out I needed a right total knee replacement at the ripe old age of 44, I was really scared and didn't know what to expect. As a former collegiate volleyball player, my knee had seen better days and the time had come to do something about it. I heard all the horror stories about the procedure itself and even worse - the rehab! I reached out to my friends on Facebook for physical therapist recommendations and that's how I found Fitness4Life Physical Therapy and Mark Slaughter. After my surgery, Mark and Sharon implemented a program to get me back in the game. They are caring but tough and I was pushed to give my all and then some during each session. Everyone in the office is so friendly and accommodating - they make you feel more like a friend than a patient. I am happy to say that I have made a 100% recovery after TKR and intense rehab. I'm not looking forward to the day when it's time for surgical intervention on my other knee but I do know where I will go for therapy when it's needed again! Thank you Mark, Sharon and Pat for taking such good care of me.

I first met Mark over five years ago when I was struggling with neck and shoulder issues that were occasionally incapacitating. It is no exaggeration to say that Mark has changed my life. At 45, I am without doubt the strongest I have ever been, and under Mark's guidance I am still getting stronger! Everything Mark does is designed to meet people where they are - he decreases pain and increases confidence; he improves posture and diminishes poor movement patterns; but most importantly, he gives people whatever tools they need to live their best possible lives. His grasp of the body as a multi-faceted mechanism is unparalleled in the sport and fitness world today. He doesn't believe in gimmicks, and there is no quick fix for anything. But at the same time, his work is incredibly intuitive and consistent. He knows what works for bodies, and his ability to motivate his patients and inspire change is truly awesome. I thought I had a knee injury, and Mark pointed me to a good knee surgeon. It turned out I needed both knees replaced. Mark encouraged me to get both knees done at once. It was the best decision I could have made, including going to Mark and Sharon for my PT. They were excellent, and I recovered quickly... actually better than I've been in years. For months I had been having pain in my left knee when bending it or climbing stairs, then gradually growing into constant pain, so I decided to have Mark Slaughter at Fitness4Life Physical Therapy check out the issue. I chose Mark after hearing different friends recommend him from experiences they had after therapy from their injuries and knee replacement surgeries. They were pleased with his knowledge, compassion and concern to get them back to a better quality of life. Mark evaluated my range of motion and pain level and suggested I see an orthopedist. I followed his advice, had arthroscopic surgery a few weeks later to correct the problem and was told I would need about 6 weeks of therapy at the therapist of my choice. Of course, I returned to Fitness4Life Physical Therapy. Not only was I able to be pain free but I am also able to keep up with my 4 young grandchildren, running, jumping on the trampoline with them and roller skating. Through Mark and his staff I also learned better posture and proper movements to ease the stress on joints. And they made it FUN too!!!!

Mark is amazing and unlike any other physical therapist I have been to in the past! I have seen him over the years for sciatica, a broken leg, and pre and post knee surgery. He explains why my injury happened, what is needed to fix it, and how to prevent it from happening again! His approach focuses a lot on everyday functional movement, which is amazing because I need my body to work properly EVERY DAY! Mark and Sharon have created a relaxed and fun environment. Surgery is a frightening experience and the thought of physical therapy following surgery can be unsettling as well. I had both knees and a hip replaced within a five year period. I started seeing Mark for physical therapy early in 2012 for a shoulder problem. The exercises corrected the problem and that is part of my exercise program I do today. But at that time, I was exercising at a gym and over time hurt my elbow and knee. So late in 2012 I started exercising at Fitness4Life Physical Therapy. Mark set a program for me first working on lower body, not body building, but strengthening. He is a stickler for doing each exercise absolutely perfect. That's the help I needed. No shoulder, elbow or knee pain. Have been doing upper and lower body exercises 4 days a week for many years. Thanks Mark, your the best.

Dealing with a dislocated and broken shoulder AND not being able to start my last school year before retirement, I walked into Fitness4Life Physical Therapy and met Mark Slaughter and crew. I came to see Mark at Fitness4Life Physical Therapy for physical therapy regarding a sciatic nerve issue. At the time my doctor hadn’t investigated my issue with an MRI so we didn’t exactly know what the real issue was and thought perhaps it was an injury from working out incorrectly. Mark showed me some simple exercises and made sure that my form was correct in order to help with rehabilitation. He also used the Astym technique to help as well. After each treatment using Astym therapy, I felt much better and I continued to do the exercises suggested by Mark. After six weeks, I was still feeling pain and Mark suggested that I go back to the doctor. After an MRI, I found out that I have a herniated disc and was told that having surgery would be the only way to alleviate the pain and that rehabilitation without surgery was unlikely. Due to not wanting back surgery, I continued to do the exercises that Mark taught me. In about three months I was actually feeling close to normal. After following the simple strategies that Mark showed me, I was able to not have surgery on my back. I am grateful that Mark was able to help! I highly recommend Fitness4Life Physical Therapy!

After suffering a back injury while exercising and not getting any relief with the measures I was taking, I decided to try physical therapy. My care with Mark and his staff at Fitness4Life Physical Therapy was fantastic. My consult was thorough and he knew exactly where my problem was and gave me several strategies and exercises to do immediately. His insight into my overall posture has not only helped my back to begin the healing process but has addressed other health issues I've had including planter's fasciitis and costochondritis.I use what I've learned through my PT with Mark and Sharon in my everyday movement patterns as well as when I workout.I have shifted my focus to realize that I need to do every rep as it is the only one and do it perfectly! I am trying to be patient with my recovery and realize that this is a way of life and it's all about maintenance and prevention!
